So, my old friend Brent, the Dork Lord, (who, incidentally, has his yearly Pure Speculation sci-fi con coming up during the Oct. 14 weekend...you should go, I plan to pop in and check it out), posted this on his blog:

If you reply to this post:

1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll challenge you to try something.
3. I'll pick a colour that I associate with you.
4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
8. If I do this for you, it would be appreciated if you posted this on yours.

I did reply, and this is what he had to say about me:

For Mano Ubergrande:

1) I can't believe you are a dad! And yet, I can totally see you being good at it.
2) Get back into making movies, man! I know you loved it.
3) Gold.
4) Even though we haven't seen each other in, like, forever, you still talk to as if we had chatted just the other day.
5) Seeing you behind the counter of the comic shop in Fort Mac, and thinking I'd kill to have that job!
6) An orange tabby.
7) I never asked you, why did you give up the shop in Fort Mac?

So, whoever is out there, if you want my repsonses regarding you, reply to this post and say so.

And Dork Lord, in response to #7: the shop paid next to nothing, the owners complete neglect of me up there was resulting in the shop going to hell (to the point where they were not paying the phone bill, etc), stock was being depleted and never replenished, I was getting embarrassed at the state of things..I was starting to think about going back to school, I was lonely up in the Fort (though I had family up there, I was too shy to really be making friends)..all things pointed to getting outta there while I had the chance.

The plus side of that was, my departure started a mass exodus of people from Fort McMurray to Edmonton, including my family and several ex-customers of the comic shop.

I always find it odd that I got to know you guys AFTER I left McMurray. Would I have been happier while I was there if we'd all become friends while i was there? Most definitely, but it also wouldn't have ended the store neglect that made me have to go. So it all worked out in the end.

Happy Shchanksgiving, folks.

For The Dork Lord-
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
You are truly one of the most pleasant people I've ever met.

2. I'll challenge you to try something.
Make it to my next movie night or holiday gathering.

3. I'll pick a colour that I associate with you.
Polished brass.

4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
Your self-admitted geek-ness..you love what yo love and make no apologies for it, and you don't look down on other people's obsessions.

5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
Selling comics to you at the store, you were so..quiet. Came in, bought, left. Not the real you at all.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
A bear..a big white polar bear.
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
What happened to that sci fi movie you were involved with afew years back? Did get finished, released, or abandoned?

12Fo Nastyboy (been working on this one for a couple of days)
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
You have the third-worst luck with cars of anyone I've ever met. I hope that changes with the Jeep.

2. I'll challenge you to try something.
Try doing homemade/handmade Christmas gifts. Be creative.

3. I'll pick a colour that I associate with you.
Dark brown.

4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
That since high school, you're the only one who has really bothered to stay in touch, even if I lapse and don't call for a while, I know that you will.

5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
Grade nine, 1st day of classes..a few of us wondering who the new guy with the sorta-mullet was.

6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
An ill-tempered dog..loyal to the poeple it likes, and likely to snap at anyone else.

7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
AT what point did you go from hating U2 and all Bono's political posturing (at a time when they were actually producing inspired, interesting music), to now stalking them town to town, when their new music is boring as hell? I can pick the very song when I started to loathe them, can you oick the time you changed opinions?

For Marmy-
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
When I talk about you, the picture in my mind is still of the shorter, black hair, even though you haven't had that style in years. I call it the "Espresso Depresso" look, as imortalized in the cartoon of the same name. Even Tbit was in there..I howled when i saw this for the first time.

2. I'll challenge you to try something.
Take a TESOL class and spend a year in Japan, teaching. Take tbit with you. Your cats can come live with us.

3. I'll pick a colour that I associate with you.
Hair-color red.

4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
Your laugh, and the obscure, sometimes twisted things you laugh at.

5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
Clearest early memory.. when you brought a super-chocolately Mr. Hankey cake to Likwid Lounge for my birthday.

6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
A black puddy-tat.

7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
Do you ever wish you'd given Edmonton a bit longer?
