Strange things may be afoot at work.

Photoshop fun, anyone? Mukey posted this on his blog...

He knew I couldn't resist...

Time to ramble..what's going on..let's see. My mom, two sisters and one brother-in-law are off to Vegas. They've been there since Saturday. I want to go to Vegas.

Counting the days til Scotland. Waiting nervously for our passports to arrive.

Holly was sick..coming out both ends (thats as close to a poop story I'll get, for tbit's sake). Then she was better..now she's sick again. Hopefully feeling a bit better as of today. Added bonus- the wife is sick, too. Hope I don't get it..who's left to take care of me?

Too lazy to do links for the following...

Saw "The Departed". While I liked it, it still doesn't compare to Goodfellas or Casino for me. It does make me want to see "Infernal Affairs", the Hong Kong film it was based on, though.

Waiting for the last episodes of Heroes..may have to have a big screen, HDTV season finale party in May.

Saddened by the deaths of Richard Jeni and Larry "Bud" Melman. Both men made me laugh.

The Oilers..meh. I blame Chris Pronger's wife.

I hate finding job postings I like in cities I am not prepared to move to, which right now, is any city but the one I'm in.

Joke from my mom, via my uncle, and I can totally hear this being told in my dad's voice.

A drunk is line behind a lady at the grocery store. He sees, in her cart, a loaf of bread, some yogurt, a bunch of bananas, a tub of margarine, and a jug of milk. He says, "I bet you're single." She replies, a bit stunned, "Why, yes, I am..how did you come to that conclusion?"

The drunk says, "Because you're ugly."

January? January?? After the season finale of Battletstar Galactica, we have to wait until January 2008? (barring the mention of a Battlestar Pegasus movie in the fall, which will tie in to Season 4)

Yeesh.

Great review of the episode here.
Spoiler warning- do not read, under any circumastances, if you don't want major plot points spoiled for you. Seriously. Mukey, I'm talking to you.

So, if you click, scroll down to "So, “Battlestar Galactica” - how you doin?"

And, heeding the advice of this article, when I write my zombie movie, I must now include a character named Gaius.

For tbit and Count Joseph, who seems to find all the good bacon-related articles...
Cheese-filled, bacon-wrapped , battered-and-deep-fried hotdogs.

And before I forget, Alex put this one on his blog..Japanese Toilet training. You know, for kids!

C&D, can you find THIS product in Japan??

I know comic fans are going to be up in arms about whatever they have to cut from Watchmen in order to make it a two-hour movie, but I don't care.

This is enough to make me squeal like a little girl at a princess party.

PLease, please, please, to whatever gods exists, don't let this be our destiny.

Please?

Last week it was teriyaki chicken..this week, it's a home-made donair.

The sauce is bang-on perfect..the meat is good but is lacking a bit of the kick I am used to. I found a couple of other recipes to try, so I will keep this one as a perfectly acceptable backup, and try the other two and let you know how they turn out.

Damn..donairs taste good.

Going through some old photos..found this. Heh.

A few months back, I happened across an episode of America's Test Kitchen on PBS, and it was all about teriyaki, one of my favourite things, and they had the exact same complaint I did, that there were so many variances in taste and consistency (glaze vs marinade).

So, they tested a bunch off the shelf, found them all lacking, and made their own.

I finally got around to trying it last night, and even though I didn't have the mirin (Japanese cooking wine) and subbed white wine and extra sugar instead..it is the best damn Teriyaki sauce I've ever had.

I really had no idea what the base flavours of teriyaki were. The fresh garlic and ginger really make the sauce, something I never would have expected.

Now, to experiment with different types of soya sauce and using real mirin.

Mmmmmmm.

I am rather impressed..someone from Aeroplan called us regarding our flight to Scotland, to let us know that 2 seats on a direct flight from Edmonton-to-London had become available, and that we could switch to those from our Edmonton-to-Calgary, Calgary-to-London itinerary. We still need to change to go London-Edinburgh.

The part that blows me away is that they actually proactively did this for us. I have this bias against Air Canada and Aeroplan's customer service...these things just don't happen.

Anything that results in fewer plane changes with a nervous-flying wife and a 1 year old is heartily welcomed and appreciated.
