Oilers rock! That's all I have to say! That, and Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since I was 20 years old, baby!! Woo hoo!

On a sadder note, I have to break it to my family and friends that Lee's restaurant is no more. Sold, and converted to a Thai restaurant. No more birthday parties, tacky decor, or the world's best crushed almond chicken. Until I resume my attempts to duplicate their sauce, which I came pretty close once. Oh Lee's, you wil be missed.

I'm still in a state of shock that the Edmonton Oilers are winning, and are likely headed to the Stanley Cup final. I'm still trying to shake the old feeling. ingarined into me years ago, that if the Oilers make the playoffs at all, they just get bounced in the first round by Dallas or Colorado. But that was years ago, those teams are no longer contenders, and look where the Oilers are.

Amazing. They're scoring goals, their goaltending has peaked, and they're shutting down everyone's offence. They'll at least be in the final, and they have as good a shot as anyone of actually winning it all.

The hockey fan in me who couldn't be bothered to care much for the past 6 years, between losing teams, escalating salaries and boring, dump-n-chase hockey is enjoying himself tremendously, finally with something local worth getting excited about!

So, how many people like me, when they released Star Wars on DVD two years ago, bought it even though it was the re-mastered, enhanced version, and did so because we heard that the original, unaltered movie would never be released on DVD in its original form?

And although this is old news, I am just getting around to blogging it now, they ARE releasing the originals, after all.

Well, seeing as how between Allison and I, we probably have 3 (or more) VHS copies of each movie, the remastered DVD's, and my Malaysian unaltered original trilogy bootlegs (with completely rockin', bizarre, gaudy bootleg artwork), I feel perfectly justified in planning to buy some dual layer DVD-R's and just burning the damn things.

And putting them in the kick-ass Malaysian artwork boxes, of course.

Our bathroom has been taken over by a psychotic Pekingese.

Do we have a sign out front that says "Unwanted, lost, stray animals, come on in!!"?

At 5:00 AM, Allison wakes me up to say we have a visitor on the front step. A fat, squat, dirty, stinky visitor.

No, not Danny DeVito! Our visitor appears to be a Pekingese..?

We brought him in with the intent of bringing him to a local vet to deal with, since Allie has the baby and our own mentally defective dogs to deal with, and Animal Control doesn't open unril 9:30AM.

So, we put it in the bathroom with some water. The next time we look in, it has climed into the bathtub. All right. We decide to move him to the garage so a) I can shower and b) before his putrid stench overpowers us.

I swear, this is one stinky dog.

Anyways, "Calm Stinky Dog" becomes "Psychotic Stinky Dog", barking, growling and snapping, and we can't remove it from the tub. So, I guess we are waiting until we can call Animal Control to come get the thing.

Oh yeah, and I get to wash m hair in the sink to try and get myself into shape to go to work.

Ingrate. See if we ever bring his stinky ass into the house again.

Update- Animal Control has taken Stinky away. Allison is now cleaning the bathroom to rid it of the smell. Seriously. Anyone walking in there would think someone left a decaying dead goose in the cupboard under the sink.

Another long weekend over. It just doesn't feel the same, having three days off, when Holly doesn't know that it is a long weekend, and Daddy would really love a few more uninterrupted hours of sleep. Oh well, I did grab a few daytime naps to try and catch up.

Holly is five weeks old. Time flies.

I did accomplish one thing this weekend. I took the outdoor Christmas lights down. Yay me.

We booked our flight to Vancouver for early September for Allison's cousin's wedding. We are really looking forward to it. It will only be three days, not enough time to do much sightseeing, but I hope to at least go to either Granville Island or Lonsdale Quay, in and around all the visiting and festivities.

Watched a couple of Oilers games..man, they rock! It is a great time to be an Oiler fan. Two more wins in this series, and they go to the Stanley Cup final for the first time in a very, very long time.

Yeah, that was my weekend...5 percent stuff for us, 95 percent Holly. Repeat for the next 18 years.

Hey kids,

Won't you please help Dork Lord Brent in his quest to bring former Star Trek: The Next generation star Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher) to Edmonton as a guest of the local sci-fi convention, Pure Speculation?

Anybody want to buy a black 2GB iPod Nano? I got it for free for signing up for my internet service, and I don't need it. They sell for $249 at Future Shop, and I don't feel like eBay-ing it. Anyone?

How about a snazzy 2004 Suzuki Aerio? We can't trade it in, because we'll only get about 1/2 of what we still owe for it, but if we could sell it for that amount, we'd be able to go get a van for hauling around little miss Holly and all her gear, and still have room for a mother-in-law or two, friends, and or dogs.

That amount, minus the body repairs it needs, that is..bug my wife about those. :) Love ya, honey. Maybe I'll stick it on eBay or on BuySell.com.

PS, for those that asked, I'd like $220 for the iPod..let me know, k?

As predicted, my favourite of Dave P's photos so far from his Japan trip.

You know me well.

Sunday morning was a "Holly-and-Daddy" morning. I got up with her while Allie slept in, I got the bottle ready, fed her, burped her, changed an extremely disgusting diaper (not my first, and definitely not my last), and basically, the two of us just hung out all morning. She was wide awake and alert, and just stared at things while I read the paper and took lots of pictures of her.

Not that I haven't done all of those things at different times already, this was just the first time I did them all, without having the available backup to say "Here!" and hand her off to Allie. :)

The funniest part was the not-uncommon occurence of getting the poopy diaper all cleaned up, getting her sleepers back on her, and realizing that somehere along the line, she peed on the new diaper, too, and it leaked all over the sleepers, as well as the blanket she was on, prompting starting all over again.

I know the diaper stories will really have those of you without kids saying to yourselves, "I gotta get me one of those!!"

Go Flames Go ! Go Flames G..hey,wait a minute..what was I thinking??

Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck! Flames Suck!!!!! BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

The only thing better than having Edmonton beat Calgary in any given playoff series is knowing that Edmonton beat the first-place Detroit, while Calgary couldn't get out of the first round. HAH!

Look at the poor fans on Calgary's Red Mile..waiting for a reason to celebrate that AIN'T GONNA COME! Go home, losers. Or riot anyways. Who cares?

Did I mention that the Flames suck?

HAH!

In an appeal to my Japanese-speaking readers, (I know you're out there..remember, I'm huge in Japan), or at the very least, to their Japanese-speaking girlfriends, Japanese language teachers, etc...can anyone tell me if the following subtitle is an accurate translation? (click for bigger pic).

I'm hoping it really does come close to the intended "We're in a lot of danger, arent we?". I'd be really disappointed if it turned out closer to "Mild discomfort in our life is the state of things, correct?"

Jacqui? Dave P? Eric's Lisa? Anyone?

Ah..I can't wait for this.

Oh yeah, in all the excitement, the fact that I got my job kind of got lost in the shuffle. Today is my first day in my full-time continuing position. Let the benefits begin to benefit me, and let the holidays accrue!

They can't get rid of me now. Bwa-hahahahah!!!!
