I'm continuing my harrassment campaign on the wife, also known as "opening negotiations with the commitee". Subject- a week long trip to California December 15-22, 2007.

Negotiating tactics-
-Airmiles for the trip and part of the hotel stay. Holly, being under two, will fly free.
-Perhaps Airmiles for Disneyland passes. Holly, being under two, is free admission.
-Plan to only stay near Disneyland for 2-3 nights, and get it out of the way early.
-Finally see the Haunted Mansion's Nightmare Before Christmas re-theming.
-Get Airmiles-paid hotel in Santa Monica, and be able to be on the ocean for 3-4 nights, something we've never done.
-See the Santa Monica pier, Third Street Promenade.
-And of course, we'll be back home for Xmas.

Those are my tactics..will keep you posted. Anyone want to come along?

Yesterday was my fifth one of these. (requires RealPlayer)Update- ok, my links suck today..I got this to work earlier, now I'm having issues..it's supposed to be the happy anniversary song from the Flintstones...had a hard time finding a link to it.

Love ya babe..as I am fond of saying, these last five years have been the best five years of your life.

Today..well, it is my birthday, but nobody has called me an old woman yet. Or Dennis. update- another sucky link..scroll down to scene 3, since the link only seems to go to the top of the page.

update..sigh.

Ahhh..low budget re-enactment of the final scene of star wars, using only hands. Many hands. All the way through, I wondered how they would do the explosion.

I've spent pretty much the last six weeks anxiously awaiting the January return of Heroes and Battlestar Galactica, and to a lesser extent, Smallville.

Maybe it's the fact that over a month without new episodes made me build everything up in my mind too much, but I feel a little let down, especially by Heroes. BSG was definitely good, Heroes was less so. It did build up something to look forward to, and the addition of Christopher Eccleston, most recently known for his turn as Doctor Who, but whom I will always fondly remember as David from Shallow Grave.

One of those "movie moments I'll never forget" (hmm..I should do a list of those someday...) is the silhouette of David at the gravesite, smashing the teeth in with a hammer, sawing off the hands and feet...creepy. Oh yeah, and his subsequent descent into madness. Classic film.

Smallville, well, my expectations were low anyways, since this season has suffered quality-wise. I geeked out momentarily for the episode where all the other DC heroes they introduced got together as a version of the Justice League, but, I didn't expect it to be deep or great, and I wasn't disappointed. I hope I can just hang in there until the end of the series (next season?), see the final scene of Clark becoming Superman for the first time, and flying off. If the creators change their mind and end it any differently than that...well, I'll write a letter! That'll learn 'em.

Cool..if I did labels or tags for my posts, this one could be tagged Billy Connolly, Zombies, Canadian Film.

Cousin Chrissy isn't the only one with sweet new kicks!

No, we didn't buy anything that ridiculous..they came from her grandma (and my aforementioned extensive network of contacts)

Damn, I wish I had the kind of job where I could just take off for a week's holiday at any time, as well as wish I had the extra cash to do the same. I just found out that through my extensive network of contacts (being my mom, her friend who lives in the L.A. area, and her son, who owns an L.A. party/event rental business) that if we wanted to go to the Oscars, we could actually get tickets.

Crap. That would be a fun "guess what I did one year.." story. Maybe next year.

I just realized that Doctor Tongue died one year ago today.

I still miss him lots.

I'm feeling a little sad right now.

A bunch of drug addicts. Thanks alot, Mike, you degenerate enabler, you.

Holly in the Jumperoo.

From Japan, my very own bag of Kick-in-the-nuts Flavour Doritos. They're four months old..I won't be opening them. It's all about the packaging, baby.

And this interesting little bit from the back of the package. Share them by mouth! Make yourself a little Dorito moustache! And other stuff!

I want a USB Humping Dog.

Count Joseph, is there something you haven't told us?

The longtime question of physics..when two objects try to occupy the same space at the same time.

Holly Jolly Christmas.

And finally, pictures of Holly in her Chinese outfit. I tell people, "This outfit came all the way from China!" But then i realize, well, I bet every single thing she owns from toys to clothes came from China. This was actually purchased in China and brought to her as a gift from her grandma, who was visiting there.

I realize this may be viewed by some as being in extremely poor taste, but since it made me roar with laughter when I discovered first discovered it, and it is somehwat topical, I present to you-

Rock, Paper, Saddam!

Tiger Hand...Rahhhr!!!

Happy New Year, everyone.

This week off (plus a day or two) went by so fast, it doesn't really feel like a holiday. I have Jan 2 booked off as well, but I think I will go back anyways, because I know I will be able to get some things accomplished tomorrow (before all the students start) that will be more difficult if I put it off. Plus, the new boss starts tomorrow, and I guess it will be a good thing for us key staff to be there on her first day.

Backing up a bit, we had a great Christmas. Lots of food, lots of family, and more food, of course. Holly enjoyed her gifts, and enjoyed the wrapping paper and boxes even more.

My project over the holidays was to get my home theatre re-installed, and reorganized- I decided months ago to change the layout, and project onto a different wall than I had been. Of course, I did very little on this project until December 30, and finished it (mostly) yesterday. Much better..the room just didn't have a good feel the other way..much more natural and comfortable now. Gotta have a Zombiethon soon, or perhaps a Mystery Science Theatre marathon, or some other movie night.

2006 brought us the best thing ever in Holly. I know that some friends of mine had great years, some had some room for improvement (2005 was that year for me).

Here's hoping for even better in 2007 for all of you. Cheers, everyone.
