Even the sad face is cute.

In my current anti-winter funk, my attention is often turned to the travelling I want to do in the future, since it's not quite possible to do it now. I think and read about our upcoming trip to Scotland, our potential trip to California, future trips to fun and sun places like Florida and Las Vegas, not to mention places like Australia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Cuba and thanks to my friend Alex, I even want to see Portugal.

Of course, that doesn't include visiting friends and family throughout Canada.

As you can see..I have expensive travel tastes and an extensive list of demands.

Anyways, as I check things out online and read about things in these places I'd like to see and do, I came back to something I've always wanted to see.

Blue Man Group.

I am disappointed that now, 17 years or so after they debuted, that the three originals (I assume, anyways) don't actually do the shows anymore, but run the corporate juggernaut that the Blue Man Group has become. They have changed from a performance trio to an international troupe, with various Blue Men in various shows around the world.

Regardless, I still find their sense of humour great, and I want to see one or more of their shows in the worst way. I hope to see them in Vegas, but have also learned that they will have a show at Universal Studios in Orlando. I still love Florida for that theme park experience, though I would never, ever go in July again..mid June would be my cut-off date due to the weather. Anyways, I'd see them there if I could.

The best thing I read about them is their philosophy, and it is what makes the show work. I'm paraphrasing from various sources, here, but essentially:

-the Blue Men are outsiders to the rest of the world
-the reason why there are three Blue Men in each show is that three is the minimum number in which one member of a group could be considered an outsider, and invariably, one of the three ends up acting differently than the other two, and thus becomes the outsider in his own group
-the fact that they don't speak, or even have facial expressions. It is all done with the eyes
-everything is new to the Blue Man. The show is based on discovery and reaction.

I can't believe I didn't go to the touring show when they were here. I want to see them more than ever now.

And here you thought the only thing you could do with a wok in New Zealand is cook a sheep stir-fry.

Finally back to work, to a hellstorm of broken equipment at the worst possible time.

This time in February makes me feel like visiting Toronto, as I did a couple of years back, two years in a row. The first trip will always be remembered for not only the first time in years I'd seen Toast and Marmy, but for my first chance to haul Puppet Mike around and make general fools of ourselves.

Oh yeah, and after a couple of slow weeks, Heroes is back to kicking ass. No spoilers for those that haven't seen it, but holy crap! I am so digging this show.

Well, now I'm feeling better, but Allison is sick. I'm home with the kid for most, if not all of, today.

Here's some pics of said kid.

Happy V-Day pt 2

This is the most frickin' awesome thing I have ever seen, with the possible exception of the Grindhouse trailer.

We have reached that part of the winter where Happy Cat has run out of Happy.

I am sick of snow and cold. From mid-February on, this is the endurance section of winter, when everyone's (well, mostly everyone's) winter blahs set in.

Just have to endure this for a while longer, and eventually break through.

I love this article.

While I don't have the same passionate feelings about the iPod as the author, due to the fact I was never all that attached to albums as the author of this article, I still agree with his assessment of the white-headphoned masses, since I work in a place where people who come to ask me for technical support can't even be bothered to remove them while they're talking to me..if I'm lucky, they'll take out one.

What I do passionately hate is MySpace. It's as the author says..like handing a Geocities template to the mentally handicapped. And I really hate that when you're trying to look something up on google, you end up with a thousand links to mentions of whatever it I'm looking for on all these freaking idiots' MySpace pages.

Die, MySpace..die horribly.

Not much new here..things are rolling along. I can't believe it's February already. Really rolling along, rapidly.

Our Scotland trip is getting closer..June 5. Holly is 9 1/2 months old..soon 10, soon a year. She'll be walking by Scotland. Well, not walking by it, she'll fly there with us and actually stop there and stay awhile..but you know what I mean.

Oh yeah..wifey got a job with Capital Health Link..4 days a week, starting in March. Yay her..she has wanted to work for them for years, and got in this time. I'm proud of her.
